World Naked Bike Ride – Sunday 5th June 2016

Here’s one for the exhibitionists among you. On Sunday 5th June 2016 from 15:00 to 17:00 there will be a leisurely bike ride around Cardiff…

Oh, we should probably mention that this is a naked bike ride…

You are invited to join in this “growing celebration of bikes and bodies, highlighting the vulnerability of cyclists on our crowded roads; a peaceful, powerful demonstration highlighting a lack of provision for cyclists in many areas, and protesting against the over use of cars in towns and cities.” There are a number of cities around the UK taking part. Think of it a bit like the Pedal for the Planet event, but with far, far less clothing.

Meet on the grass area behind the Mochyn Du pub at Sophia Gardens from 1.30pm for bike and body decoration. We will have this area cordoned/screened off, access to it will only be permitted to riders and their families. Secure storage (but at owner’s risk) for bags is being planned.

We’ll have a flat, very gentle family-friendly 8.5 mile ride through Cardiff city centre, the Bay area and parkland. There will be a few stops along the way, finishing back at the grass area in Sophia Gardens for around 5.00pm.

The Eventbrite page is no longer taking signups, but the Facebook Event page is. It also says you can go as “bare as you dare” and that full nudity is not compulsory. That’s probably a good thing given the chafing you can expect from the average bike saddle…

We’ve added it to the calendars and we may see some of you there…most likely a little more of you than we normally would!
